Beamaroo is a free tool for sending files straight from one device to another — phone to laptop, Mac to Android, PC to PC — in the browser, with nothing uploaded and nothing stored. It's built and run in Brisbane, Australia.
Why it exists
Most ways of sending a file work the same way: upload it to a server, get a link, send the link. That's genuinely useful when someone needs to collect a file later. But it means a copy of your file sits on someone else's computer, under their terms — and terms change. In July 2025, WeTransfer users found a terms update that briefly claimed the right to use uploaded files to improve machine-learning models, before the company walked it back.
When both people are online anyway — in the same room, on a call, at the same job — the detour through a server isn't needed. Beamaroo connects the two devices and beams the file across, encrypted end to end, with no copy left anywhere. That's the whole idea, and the name: you throw it, it lands, and the confirmation comes back like a boomerang.
What we stand by
- Privacy by design, not by promise. We don't ask you to trust a deletion policy, because your file is never uploaded in the first place. How Beamaroo works explains every step.
- Proof of delivery. “Sent” isn't good enough. The receiving device checks every file and the receipt comes back to the sender.
- Honest comparisons. Every comparison page says when the other tool is the better pick — and there are plenty of times it is.
- No accounts. Nobody should need to sign up to receive a file.

Who's behind it
Beamaroo is an independent product built and run in Brisbane, Queensland. It runs on Cloudflare's global network, which hosts the website, introduces devices to each other and provides the encrypted relay for networks that block direct connections. Our terms are governed by Queensland law, and our privacy policy sets out exactly what information the service handles.
How it's funded
Beamaroo is free to use today, with no ads and no selling of data. Our privacy policy already describes how payments would be handled if optional paid subscriptions launch in future, so there are no surprises later.
